For many years, the USA's lead over China was unchallenged - especially in terms of innovative strength. The Chinese AI app DeepSeek recently demonstrated very impressively that this picture is now changing rapidly.
The Global Innovation Index - calculated by the French business school INSEAD, Cornell University and the United Nations World Intellectual Property Organization - provides clear figures to back up this development: While the USA virtually stagnated from 2014 to 2024, the People's Republic achieved a massive improvement of almost 10 points in the same period!
This rapid race to catch up follows a long-term strategy (“Made in China 2025”), with which China is specifically aiming to become a world leader in many future-oriented fields. The country is executing an offensive plan on several levels to establish itself as a new superpower. The topic of “artificial intelligence” is particularly important in this context.
The FERI Cognitive Finance Institute has already analyzed in detail which overarching goals China is pursuing with its “long game” and which areas are particularly in focus - in the comprehensive study “New World Order: ‘Made in China’”.
The analysis is available in German in the download area on this page.
